By contrast, US President Joe Biden met with Xi on the margins of the G20 summit, arriving on the tailwinds of a strong electoral showing in the midterms and the publication of his National Security Strategy — which emphasized the centrality of strategic competition with China — while showing the determination to discuss how to prevent the growing competition between their two countries from descending into open conflict.

Yet, when it comes to China, there are stark differences between the the US and Germany, and notably between Scholz and Biden. And these concern three core issues — the nature of China under Xi, the drivers of global politics and the extent of economic partnership with China.

Fortunately, more and more officials in Europe and, increasingly, in Germany now understand the need to shift away from the longstanding view of China as a gigantic market, seeing it instead as the strategic competitor it is. There are even loud voices within the German government urging a change — and we can only hope their voices will prevail.

He does not say much in terms of planning in his speech to the G20, but he does imply that while fragmentation is necessary, too much fragmentation could be troublesome. In other words, controlled chaos is valuable to the globalist agenda, but uncontrolled chaos would be disastrous for them.

Zelensky also said he believes that Ukraine should already have been given access to the site of the explosion to be involved in the analysis of debris to determine the origin of the suspected missile. 'Do we have the right to be in the investigation team? Of course,' he said.

Zelensky also confirmed Kyiv had received no offer from Moscow to start peace talks despite concerns of an escalation in the war following the incident. The summit has shown that even Russia's allies have limited patience with a conflict that has inflated food and energy prices worldwide and raised the spectre of nuclear war. Risking diplomatic isolation, Russia was forced to agree that the war in Ukraine - which Moscow refuses to call a war - has 'adversely impacted the global economy'.

But President Zelensky yesterday insisted that he has 'no doubt that it was not our missile' based on military intelligence, and accused Ukraine's Western allies of blocking his investigators from inspecting the crash site or being part of the probe into exactly what had happened.

Kurt Volker, former US special envoy to Ukraine, appeared to throw his weight behind Zelensky yesterday evening - saying Kyiv has 'very sophisticated' missile tracking systems and 'knows what's going on'. Though he did not specifically endorse Zelensky's version of events, he called for Ukraine to be included in the missile probe.

On the face of it, it appears NATO has greater reason to downplay the missile incident than Ukraine does. If leaders had said yesterday there was a possibility the missile was Russian, it would have piled pressure on them to trigger Article 4 or Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty - sparking either talks on a threat or a military response to an attack.

There's no guarantee Republicans, who run the gamut from moderates in suburban battleground districts to Freedom Caucus conservative hard-liners, will be equally co-operative with their party's leadership.

A majority is a majority, however, and assuming Republicans can pull together to elect a speaker when the full chamber votes in January, they will reap the rewards of their midterm victory. House rules give the party in charge control over which legislation gets votes and which languishes in limbo. Republicans will also run all the House committees, with their sweeping oversight and subpoena powers.

While the fractious Republican caucus may not agree on much, they will be able to stop Joe Biden's agenda in its tracks and force showdowns over federal budget priorities.

Under the guise of reducing emissions and helping to save the planet, carbon footprint trackers are the latest ruse to get people to buy into the the idea that normal human behaviors are destroying the planet. For now, they are being introduced voluntarily, however this may not last for long as the ultimate goal is to utilize them to restrict what you can eat, where you can go, and what you can do.

Citigroup, HSBC Holdings, Mastercard and Wells Fargo are among the financial companies participating in the experiment alongside the New York Fed, which will provide a "public contribution to the body of knowledge on the application of new technology to the regulated financial system."

Bank of New York Mellon, HSBC Holdings, PNC Financial Services, Toronto-Dominion Bank, Truist Financial and US Bancorp are also participating in the test, along with payments network Mastercard.

In the course of the ten-minute meeting, Trudeau raised “serious concerns” about China’s “interference activities” in Canada, ranging from industrial espionage to meddling in the 2019 federal election, a “government source” told AFP. According to the same source, they also discussed the situation in Ukraine, North Korea, and the upcoming biodiversity conference in December, which Beijing and Ottawa are co-hosting.

The Russian Defense Ministry has dismissed the accusations, saying Moscow did not conduct any strikes against targets near the Polish-Ukrainian border on that day, adding that missile fragments, photos of which were published by Polish media, “have nothing to do with Russian weapons.”

Later, US President Joe Biden said it was “unlikely” that Russia was behind the incident, adding that preliminary information contests that version of events. “I don’t want to say that until we completely investigate, but it is unlikely, in the minds of the trajectory, that it was fired from Russia,” he said.

Ahead of the German elections on September 26, 2021, YouTube had announced they were banning any content that doubts the elections. Citizens had to wait in line for hours at polling stations. Ballot papers were missing in many polling stations and there were not enough ballot boxes. Many voters were only able to vote after the official closing time of 6 pm. Some polling places seem to have “guesstimated” the tallies or had exactly the same percentages for the parties in a whole string of locations.

Poland is likely to trigger NATO Article 4, which calls for discussions on a threat to an ally. It is a step short of Article 5, which calls for a military response to an attack. The Kremlin denied all responsibility, with ex-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev saying it is another example of Western 'hybrid war' that 'moves closer to world war'. The dramatic development came on another day of bloodshed and destruction in Ukraine, with more than 100 Russian missiles landing in major population centres, killing three and cutting the power supply to millions.

The bombardment came as German newspaper Der Spiegel reported that documents leaked from the German military said one of the country's top generals, Eberhard Zorn, ordered the country's army to put itself on a war footing in the face of 'existential' threats. Zorn called for the complete overhaul of the German military and told commanders to prepare themselves for war.

What is Article 4 of NATO?
If any NATO member - in this case Poland - feels their territory, political independence or security is under threat, they can request a NATO meeting under Article 4. This is a call for consultations among the allies in the face of a security threat, allowing for more time to determine what steps to take. At this state of the process, the Allies are able to exchange views and information, and discuss issues prior to reaching an agreement and taking action.

What is Article 5?
Article 5 is the cornerstone of the founding treaty of NATO, which was created in 1949 with the US military as its powerful mainstay essentially to counter the Soviet Union and its Eastern bloc satellites during the Cold War. The charter stipulates that NATO members agree that an armed attack against one or more of them 'shall be considered an attack against them all'. If such an attack does occur, each NATO member will assist the country that has been attacked with any action 'it deems necessary'. This can include the use of armed force with the aim of restoring and maintaining the security of the North Atlantic area.

That wokery has seized the Home Office and much of Whitehall is barely in doubt. Mandarins rejoice amid ‘minority networks’, ‘positive action schemes’, ‘monitoring data’ and training courses in ‘Critical Race Theory’ and ‘Unconscious Bias’ — all far-Left, mostly American imports that have become gospel among the elite. The Tories might be in office, then, but their ability to implement their agenda is being drastically curtailed by their opponents in the Civil Service, many of whom hold them in contempt.

Civil servants are meant to be impartial — and these vendettas against senior Tories undermine the fabric of our democracy. Just occasionally, the bias is explicit. As Matthew Rycroft, Permanent Secretary at the Home Office, has all too graphically revealed, there is a streak of arrogance towards the elected politicians that now infuses the department.

At a conference in June last year, Rycroft said there was no need for civil servants to ‘slavishly’ follow official policy. ‘It is for us to be stewards’ on some issues, he grandly declared. Such moral superiority is nothing less than a disaster for this country. No wonder that illegal migration, like so much else, is mired in such chaos.
