USA - Hawaii's governor has said that the terrifying fire tornados that tore though the island's buildings were '1,000 degrees' - as it's revealed warning sirens did not go off. The blazes on the island of Maui have now become the deadliest wildfires in modern US history - killing 93 people - and authorities are still working to identify the victims. Hawaii Governor Josh Green described the wildfire as a 'fire hurricane' - blowing 80mph winds and reaching temperatures of up to '1,000-degree heat.' Meanwhile, Hawaii Emergency Services Administration said Friday: 'Neither Maui nor HI-EMA activated warning sirens on Maui during the wildfire incident.' Green told MSNBC on Sunday that the weather front, pushed on by Hurricane Dora, created fire cyclones that were able to go through buildings.

UK - Never let it be said that Greenpeace lacks a sense of its own importance. After the government broke off all contacts with the ecological campaign group, following its invasion of the Prime Minister's family home in North Yorkshire (draping it with black cloth in protest over new North Sea oil licensing), Greenpeace issued a statement of epic pomposity. I can think of many reasons why Greenpeace — while it has a kind of PR genius at drawing attention to itself — should never have been given such high-level access to government in the first place. The Germans, influenced by Greenpeace scare stories about Fukushima, have just completed the closure of their entire nuclear energy industry. The result has been self-defeating in terms of their campaign to reduce CO2 emissions. To avoid the blackouts that would be caused by over-reliance on its vaunted wind-power programme, over the past 12 months Germany has recommissioned almost 20 coal-fired power stations.

UK - Trading Standards Officials should brand milk 'bovine mammary secretions' if they want to be honest about labelling in their overzealous crackdown on non-dairy products, the world's largest animal rights organisation has said. Guidance commissioned by the Department for Environmental, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) recommended that non-dairy brands avoid using the terms 'yoghurt-style' or 'cheddar-type', as well as describing almond and oat milk as 'mylk' to avoid confusing customers. But now the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) have recommended the Whitehall department go one further in striving for accuracy and brand dairy milk as 'bovine mammary secretions'.

NIGERIA - Terrorists reportedly identified as “Fulani militia” stormed two villages in central Plateau state overnight Thursday, killing 21 people and making a mockery of government checkpoints set up after police received tips that local “bandits” were organizing an attack. Nigerian media identified the affected areas as two villages in Heipang, Plateau, with a large population of internally displaced civilians. Plateau is part of Nigeria’s “Middle Belt” region that divides that Muslim-majority north from the Christian-majority south and has experienced years of radical jihadist attacks meant to eradicate the Christian population.

USA - Hawaii Governor Josh Green announced Saturday evening that the Maui blazes have become the deadliest wildfires in modern US history, as the death toll rose to 89. The disaster surpassed California's 2018 Camp Fire, which killed 85, and is the worst since the 1918 Cloquet & Moose Lake Fires in Minnesota, which killed 453. It is also now the deadliest natural disaster in Hawaiian history. Investigators have identified three victims' remains, but are yet to name them. And they say just three percent of the damaged area has been searched, raising the specter of a much higher final death toll. Speaking at a daily evening press conference to update the mounting death toll, Green said fires are already 'the largest natural disaster Hawaii has ever experienced', which will 'take an incredible amount of time to recover from.'

USA - The devastating fires ripping across the island of Maui are the latest in a troubling trend of increasing wildfires in the state of Hawaii. The uptick, fire experts say, is largely driven by a major shift in land use on the islands, specifically the abandonment of tens of thousands of acres of pineapple and sugar cane fields that have opened the door to highly combustible non-native grasses. “The historic changes to the plants and the vegetation is really what’s making us vulnerable and susceptible to an event like this,” said Clay Trauernicht, a specialist in wildland fire science and management at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. “We just have so much of this grassy fuel around our communities.” “You pull agriculture off the land (and) it fills in with burnable fuels, and no one is doing anything about that,” Trauernicht said.

USA - Skittles apparently wants to become candy’s version of Bud Light thanks to their decision to push the far-left’s trans agenda. The Daily Mail reported Friday that conservatives are up in arms after learning the candy brand has altered their packaging and joined forces with a far-left group called The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD). This is the fourth year in a row they have partnered with the organization. One astute social media user notes that GLAAD supports children receiving sex procedures, including gender reassignment surgeries.

SWITZERLAND - Speaking on a World Economic Forum panel, UN "Messenger of Peace", Jane Goodall, advocates reducing the global population down to 450 million — a 95% reduction from today's population: "We cannot hide away from human population growth. Because, you know, it underlies so many of the other problems. All these things we talk about wouldn't be a problem if there was the size of population that there was 500 years ago."

USA - “My son does identify as a cat but I cannot take him to a vet because I tried that and the veterinarian told me that because he has human anatomy that he does not know how to to work on him or diagnose him with anything and he legally cannot - so while I do think that is a form of discrimination because you know my son - if he says he's a cat he is a cat - and he needs to be treated like one you know, but I'm not going to press charges because I know that he could lose his license if he did work on my son so I'm not gonna try to sue him or anything so don't worry but this is something that I want to raise awareness on because I do think that people that identify as an animal should be able to go to the vet you know that's the medical attention that they're wanting.”

But no, progressivism is often simply a parody of itself, and that is the case with this HuffPost piece. Beyond its unintentional entertainment value, however, it’s a revealing look into the mindset of feminists who wrestle with the misfortune of having borne one or more male children instead of daughters with whom they can bond over their shared oppression under the boot heel of – ugh – men.

UK - Over a third of the population of the UK are not aware that so-called “transgender women” are in fact biological males, as campaigners accuse the LGBT movement and the legacy media of adopting “intentionally” confusing lingo to muddy the debate around transgenderism. A survey conducted by the policy analysis firm Murray Blackburn Mackenzie (MBM) found that 35 per cent of Britons incorrectly believe a “transgender woman” was someone who was born as a biological woman or were unclear about what the term meant. The poll went on to find that there was even more confusion over the term “trans woman”, with 40 per cent of the public unable to correctly define the term.

USA - Scott Ritter warns that America's stated, strategic plan is to destroy Russia and will spell the end of life on the planet. Why? The US has unilaterally withdrawn from all nuclear arms treaties that have kept us safe since Reagan signed the first treaty with Mikhail Gorbachev in 1987. It was "Trust but Verify" back then. On top of this, the US has declared its "first strike" nuclear policy. Russia will not adopt such a policy, but has declared that any threat on its existence or territory will result in Russia unleashing its entire nuclear arsenal... and we are all dead. Nobody wins in a nuclear war, not even a "limited" nuclear war.

NIGER - The West African ECOWAS bloc has activated a standby force to use against the junta that took power last month . West African governments have taken the next step in trying to force the junta that took power in Niger last month to reverse its coup, ordering that the region’s armies immediately activate standby troops for a possible intervention in the uranium-rich country. The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) ordered the force activations on Thursday and issued a statement saying it still prefers a peaceful restoration of democracy in Niger. ECOWAS had threatened to send in troops if the military government in Niger failed to restore President Mohamed Bazoum to power by last Sunday.

UKRAINE - The Ukraine conflict is now “a war of attrition,” with no easy solution on the horizon, the Serbian president has said. All Western efforts to help Ukraine prevail over Russia on the battlefield are in vain, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday, calling on Moscow and Kiev to engage in peace talks. Speaking to Happy TV, Vucic stated that while Western countries are providing Ukraine with massive military assistance, “now it is clear that there is nothing to it,” and an “easy end” to the conflict is nowhere in sight. “A war of attrition is being waged, and with all the strength of the West, Russia will not be defeated on the battlefield,” the Serbian leader opined.
